Here in the USA I think we could benefit from a shelter from the storm of political media. As my mother likes to say, “The world is going to hell in a hand basket”. Lately I kinda agree. The level of crazy just keeps escalating, when is it going to stop?!!
Yesterday I came across this image I made a few years ago while visiting the Caribbean islands. It settles me and right now that is what I need. I need to believe that there is a beautifully orchestrated plan that we cannot see because we are too close to it.
The termites that created this shelter tube surely don’t know how graceful and poetic it is from the outside. They are simply looking for a way to connect their nest to their food source and this passageway protects them from predators and the hot Caribbean sun.
Events like the ones we are living in right now do require us to be aware and respond. That doesn’t mean we can’t find peace in the midst of turmoil. For me, it is connecting to nature any way I can.
Walking through the woods or sitting along the seashore or riverbank has a way of soothing troubles and it helps to keep you grounded in what is real and good. Best of all, it’s free, even in a city as large as New York.
Wherever you are dear reader, have a great day and if you need a respite from the crazy, go find your little slice of peace in whatever natural setting you have available to you.
